Adelaide's 3rd Grade Team win their flag in style

26/03/2016

Adelaide CC's young 3rd Grade Team has won the SACA Premiership following a commanding performance at Parkinson Oval on the 19th and 20th of March 2016.

It tops off a terrific year for the tight, talented group who have played some fantastic team cricket and finished the minor round in second position. All the better when you consider our Premiership Captain, Lachlan Clark has just turned 21 and was the oldest in our grand final team !!

Kensy's won the toss and batted first, but could only manage all out 107 on a day where our 3rds (typically) shared the load and bowled particularly well as a group. It's been their strength all year, and came to the fore on the big stage with Tynan Economou making the early inroads with 3/23 and Jimmy Kain's legspin grabbing 4/30 through the middle.

With 30 overs still to bat it was then our top order batsmen who held their nerve beautifully to be 1/71 at stumps on day 1. We passed Kensington's score just one wicket down following a good start on day two, and were 6/177 when the Browns conceded later that day. Openers Lachlan Swain with 49 and Zach Reekie with 45 set the standard, with Jimmy Takos (34) also doing nicely at number 3.

A fantastic win, and end to a fantastic season for this team and all who have contributed along the way. Congratulations to the playing group, the brilliant support crew and to Damien Kelly and his coaching team.

Many other players contributed to the 3rd's success during the season; including Anthony Cormack, Chris Quinsey, Cameron Bullard, Robert Roe, Bailey Todd, Kane Holman, Aaron Baker, Nick Oag, Josh Pengelley and Angus Brooks.

Congratulations to all involved on a result we want to replicate a few times next year. Enjoy !
